Blue Shield of California Announces Steve Shearer as Vice President and General Manager of Small Business

WOODLAND HILLS, CA (June 6, 2017) — Steve Shearer has joined Blue Shield of California as vice president and general manager of Small Business. He is responsible for the management, performance and delivery of medical and specialty products to the health plan’s employer groups with 1-100 employees.

Shearer has more than 20 years of health care experience. Prior to joining Blue Shield, he spent more than 15 years at Anthem Blue Cross. He most recently served as regional vice president of Individual and Small Group Sales, where he was responsible for strategic planning and membership growth in California.

His experience building high-performing teams that deliver results, as well as the exceptional quality of his interactions, will help Blue Shield grow its Small Business membership," said Nitin Bhargava, senior vice president of Employer Markets. Shearer reports to Bhargava and is based in Blue Shield’s Woodland Hills office.

Shearer earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from University or California, Irvine’s School of Social Sciences.
